Let’s talk about some of tomorrow’s Champions League qualifiers, starting with Celtic vs Rosenborg.
These two teams have only played each other twice, where they met in the Champions League in 2001. The first leg ended 1-0 to Celtic at home, with the second leg ending 2-0 to Rosenborg.
With Celtic’s previous qualifier ending 2-0 and 4-0 against Linfield, the Glasgow side go into the tie major favourites.
Rosenborg previous qualifier against Dundalk ended 1-all in Ireland then 2-1 to Rosenborg in the return leg at home, a far from convincing for the Norwegian side as I would hope they expected a bigger win.
Celtic, whom won the SPFL without loosing a game last year, should walk through Rosenborg and win with ease, they’ve only improved on their squad since last season and have depth in nearly every position.
With Leigh Griffiths receiving a suspension after the Linfield game for tying a scarf to the goal post in Northern Ireland after the game, I expect Moussa Dembele will start and I also expect him to grab himself a goal or two.
Then we have Rosenborg, who won the Tippeligaen last year, and have acquired Nicklas Bendtner as-well, seem a good side but I feel they will be unable to contain the wrath of Celtic, especially on home turf.
My bets for this game are;- Celtic to win (4/9), Celtic to win and over 2.5goals (11/10) and Moussa Dembele to score in 90mins (8/11).
Now, onto Nice vs Ajax. This is the first time these teams will be playing each other in what I expect to be a thrilling match, with Nice finishing respectively 3rd in last seasons Ligue 1 and Ajax reaching the Europa Cup final vs Manchester Utd with Feyenoord stealing the Eredivise from the Amsterdam side.
Nice seem like a team to be reckoned with most recently after an impressive run in France and Mario Balotelli having a great season as-well. I expect the French side to defeat Ajax tomorrow in a close, but cracking game of football.
Ajax have undeniably a great team of youth players who are already competing in European competitions well but I think this qualifier dis-favours the Dutch side, I have no doubt that they will win the return leg at the Johan Cruijff Arena, but in France I feel Nice will be the better team.
My bets for this game are;- Nice to win (11/8), Nice to win and BTTS (15/4), BTTS and over 2.5 goals (11/8) and finally, Goal in both halves – YES (5/6)
